Tandem Ride of Death

For our birthday, William and I decided to treat ourselves to a tandem. Seemed like a great idea as I am a 12-13 mph kind of plodder, while Bill could easily ride a much faster average. So first time we take it out we decide to go to the Hilliard path, a nice straight rails to trails path, round trip about 13 miles. Had a good ride despite the delightful wind. So next time we decide to head to Johnstown and ride to Granville. I kind of figured it would be about 16 miles. So the way out was great, really starting to get the hang of it. But on the way back I thought Bill was trying to do strange stuff to get me off balance. Turned out that the handlebars had managed to work loose, and then bike tool was in the pouch on my road bike miles away at home. Bill managed to get it tightened with a vehicle key. We managed to make it back and get the bike loaded up. Legs sore, when we got home Bill plotted distance at 22 miles! Fear not! If it ever stops raining, I am ready to try again!
